Irem - you would have a good job as a journalist! Very good interview techniques! You raise an interesting point about how much we should really put our faith and 'trust' in technology. :) On the American dollar it says "In God we trust". Do you think in the future it might change to "In technology we trust?" Just close your eyes and imagine what life would be like without information communication technologies...no Facebook, no SMS, no TWITTER, no GOOGLE, no email, no photos, no MP3s, etc. Do you think that there is life without technology?
Another interesting issue mentioned in your interview is about the dangers of technology-Ridvan alludes to threats to society, and the proliferation of undesirable elements, such as pornography. Indeed, as Ridvan points out, many people play games on the Internet these days...and some games promote gambling, which can be a serious addiction. What is the role of the teacher in addressing this 'dark side' of technology? As English teachers, do we need to be concerned about educating our students about these dangers?
Hocam, first of all, thanks a lot for your complement about my job issue :)) Every passing day, the humankind depends on more technology as you do, I do, or anybody else does. I do not think that I can live without technology; however this issue a bit is related with development of how we improve ourselves in terms of searching and communicating. When I look at the old days, I remember that I was searching from encyclopaedias, there was no internet or it was limited. When I look at these days everybody has accounts, MP3s, etc. Another issue which is about communication that again I remember that I had not any cell phone when I was a kid at around 10-11 ages. Today's children are so lucky that they have that kind of technology easiness in terms of everything just like you mentioned above.
And; yes, unfortunately, there is this "danger" point for people that which hides behind the bright side of technology. Too much addiction for anything; it doesn't matter whether it is technology or not, leads serious, damaging events and situation which we do not like at the very end of it and endp up with regret. I think, As I am a prospective teacher I would have informed my students whom I'll teach for about these dangers, however I cannot blocking them, however, it depends up to them whether the learners apply what I say or not.
So, on argument on "In Technology we Trust", I can easily say that we don't need to trust on it; yet, non of our works and what we do in our lives goes without technology. Therefore; yepp, may be one day in our daily life, when we wake up in the morning, it becomes the statement as "In Technology we Trust" on the American dollar who knows? :)
Thanks for your all comments and sharings of your ideas with me.
I agree with irem`s point .Technology really gains us more but as it develops more the more the disadvantages will appear. In the future, I believe that it will develop which wil impress us but I dont think it is appropraite for all humans to access it more. FOr instance, it is not appropriate for me to see that children carry I-phones or android cell phones, I remember too that we didnt have these kinds of opportunities on the other hand, does is it really appropriate for children to access suddenly with all these is an other argumentative topic in my view.
